1998 G320 Cabriolet top doesn't open!!
Howdy everyone, first time posting on here. I had a question hoping possibly somebody out there in this vast expanse of our world, may have come across this problem. I work for a Benz Dealership (or as some take to calling it, Stealership lol). Recently a customer brought in a 1998 w463 G320 two door, convertible, which no one has ever seen in person before at my dealer. There are a bunch of problems with it, but the main issue is the convertible top does not work. The button for it doesn't even light up. Even being an employee for the dealer, we have no access to the schematics or diagrams for this at hand. I have been under able to come across anything anywhere really about it, and hoping maybe some one found this problem and solved it once before. Any help is better than what I have got now.

Hey Plutoe, I can't remember off the top of my head the exact version of wis we use, need to check in the morning when I get back into work. But they sadly took the car from me because one of the other techs came across some schematics for the convertible top. From how he explained to me what he found, he was saying that the hydraulic pump/piston was siezing up. But it also had a bad contact point (I believe he said it was either corrosion or dirt in one of connector). So he is going to replace the unit. Needs to be special ordered from some place in Germany, so guy ain't getting his car back for a while I think.

Hey Ryan, congrats, great car, stick to it, no matter what....
Here my 2 cents.
Procedure : Ingnition complete on , Handbrake on!, 2 levers at roof top inside open > beeping and switch flashing , ready to open .
If not> check fuse box passenger side below glove box. > 2 fuses for top as far as i remember
If not > open side covers behind passenger seat (first door column plastic cover, then carefully clamped side cover > there is the reservoir for hyraudlic fluid for top, maybe empty. Try to unscrew the lower plastic of the pump, and refill manually eith hydraulic oil and some "fix a leak" stuff for hydraulic lines. Keep filling with maybe manually opening an closing the top after unlocking the emergeny brake for the top. (2nd person) > check the WIS pages for hydraulic pump
Dont know about the eletric board of the roof.
