G Class Buying Options

I've been researching a few G's to purchase and heres the shortlist, i will most likely buy one of the 4 cars this weekend. Each car is priced comparably with the other cars, some of them have the xenon lights where others do not etc. even if its base i don't mind purchasing the upgrades later on, more concerned with the build / reliability based off what i read. Once I purchase, I plan on using as a daily driver and keeping for approx 10 years. any input on the below would be greatly appreciated as it will assist me when selecting a vehicle to buy.

Also as a side note none of the cars were involved in accidents and all seem to have decent service records, i.e. regular maintenance completed.

Here's the list:

2002 G500 Black - 55k miles
2004 G500 Silver - 89K miles
2005 G500 Blue - 98k miles
2008 G500 Silver - 119K miles

The 2005 is probably the best choice as that model year retained the M113 engine and 722.6 5-speed transmission. The 2008, while still running the M113 engine, has a newer 7-speed transmission which was known to have difficulties. That transmission was introduced in the 2007 model year. Perhaps at 119k miles, that vehicle has worked out any tranny issues. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply!!!!!! would you stay away from the 02 and 04? I heard that the 02's were prone to rust and electrical gremlins.. (my 02 coupe certainly was) although at such low milage it would make it the idea candidate, and the 04 seems to be in OK shape still decently low milage. the 08 was my top choice but i was afraid that the high milage was prone to more problems....the 05 is also the #2 after the 08..

Buy the latest model year you can afford. People say these trucks haven't changed over the years. That is not exactly true. They may look the same but there have been upgrades right along, especially during the last five years. So, latest model with reasonable mileage. Ideal situation is a certified pre-owned. When these things break reach for your wallet.
