Winter tires

Discussed before, but new products on the market might be worth revisiting. Looking for GREAT winter tires that can handle the load as well as the snow. Anything you have been running that you really like? Or something you advise staying away from? 2003 G500.

Thanks in advance.

After a lot of research I just bought a set of Nokian Hakka R2 SUVs on stock 18" rims up 1 size to 275/65. They look & ride great!! but haven't seen snow/ice yet as it's pretty dry here in Tahoe :-(
I considered studded, we don't see enough ice to justify//maybe E. Coast or Canada may make more sense.

Thanks. Curious about any cornering issues going up a size. Are you getting any interplay from the yaw rate sensor? I am in the Ozarks - very curvy and hilly, and have seen this problem in the past when going into curves without acceleration. I will look into the Nokians.

they ride pretty good // cornering is obviously relative on these cars...but I can't notice much difference. no lights/alarms/electronics/rubbing etc due to the wheels size

I am not sure what winters are like in the Ozarks, but an alternative to the Nokian Hakka R2's (which is a great winter tire) if it is not perpetually snowy and below freezing there, are the Nokian WRG3 SUV tires which are their "all-weather" tires. It is still a very good winter/snow tire, although not as good as the R2s, but is much better in the handling department (if you are worried about all those curves) and can be used all year round. I had them for 5 years in stock size on my 2003 G500 in the northeast and they got me though some pretty bad snow storms with flying colors. I also just purchased them for my G63 as a dedicated winter tire instead of the R2's because there are many above 40 degree days in the northeast in the winter and I did not want to sacrifice the better tire performance on the non-snowy days. Just a thought.
