Engine Oil Reduce Engine Level G550
Hi I own an 2017 G550. I changed the oil in the summer, the capacity of the 4.4 L twin turbo is 9 Litres. In the garage on a levelled surface, I drained the oil and removed the filter after heating up the vehicle and allowed the vehicle to sit for 20 minutes to make sure all the oil was out. I added new oil Mobil 1 synthetic 0W 40 as per specs. I added a quantity of 8.5 litres accounting for oil expansion and oil residue that won't come out no matter how long you let it drain. The automatic oil level indicator menu on the vehicle indicated oil level okay. Weeks later, I get an occasional ENGINE OIL REDUCE ENGINE OIL MESSAGE. I checked the oil level again when the engine is cold and the oil level indicator indicated it was okay. Today, this message had come on again saying to REDUCE ENGINE OIL LEVEL. I went back over exactly what I did in the summer to confirm and definitely added 8.5 Litres as I added one full jug and 4 litres of the second jug. Any ideas what this message could mean?? Yes I am going to change the oil again just because its due and eliminate any other potential problems. Any other experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

As the oil expands it is slightly going over the full mark. Siphon some out, it says in the manual of after driving it says that message to pull some
out, prolly not a big deal

I saw that on my 2018 G550 and when I went to the dealer, they replaced the oil level sender
