2019 G63 Questions and Opinions

So my parents put an order in for the MY19 G63, they love the way it looks, and love that it's going to have the 4.0 V8 thats on all AMG's now. I was wondering if anyone else is getting one? So far we're going for the Matte Black Paint with the exclusive red interior, all major packages, and the carbon fiber trim and carbon fiber steering wheel. Another one which we considered was the Edition 1, which looks almost the same as the build I just mentioned. What's everyone's opinion over the new G63?

Also, we won't be off roading it, just incase anyone wanted to know.

I posted this on the G55 forum, so I apologize if this isn't allowed.

I'm am seriously considering upgrading from a MY 16 to a MY 19. The key issue with me is the difference in ride quality with the new suspension changes and the interior modifications. From the pictures I've seen the overall outward appearance will not detract from the iconic image of the truck. Looking forward to my first drive. Then I will make the decision.

The changes are looking pretty significant. Lighter than last gen, independent front suspension, more rigid chassis, 4.0l V8 powertrain, 9g-tronic trans, new transfer case, and supposedly the steering is going to be a lot better with the electrical assistance. Not to mention low range and G-mode (for those who off road). Can't wait till we get one!

Right, the biggest change is that it'll be a better car to drive on the road. I think that's a really good benefit for any car in general. While most like the way the last generation felt and looked, I think that change is good for the car as long as the car is as capable as an offroader as the last one was, then i think the improvements are worth it. But I get why others like the old one. Totally respect that

After 40 years there better be some major improvements. AMG took on the majority of the redesign. Almost all the tech is carried over from the E-class, so no electrical gremlins there. Demand will outpace supply as has always been the case. Older model values will remain propped by enthusiasts. 100% bonus depreciation on Section 179 this year, so luxury SUV's will have a record year. It'll be the easiest car to sell on the Mercedes lot. I do think we will see mass production of this model, which is going to hurt exclusivity.
