Question G55 leak - looking for a preowned model

Dear all,

first I would like to congratulate the administrors and the people who contribute this community.
I moved to Dubai and I'm looking for a G wagon, my dream car, more precisely an original G55, which are currently difficult to find here as most of the models here are G63's or G55's with kit.
I found a nice 2009 model, 105 k km, black exterior with black designo leather but there are few problems that I would like to share with you and aventually have your useful feedback.
1 - there is a major leak under the car at the level of the exhausts, I'll join a couple of pictures
2 - paint problem right above the g55 logo at the back (sign of repainting)
3 - metal attachment at the back, nothing bad ?

I'll ask to the dealer the full history but the leak scares me a lot.

What do you guys think?

Thank you for your help and I hope to join the G class community vey soon!

Welcome! I am with you on the appeal of an all original later G55Ks

Few things:
  • Looks like someone's put spacers to push the wheels out a bit?
  • I wonder if that paint problem on the back bumper is a result of a hit there against a so-so repaint, check the door jambs for additional signs of repaint
If you really like this truck, I'd take it to a professional to get it inspected. I found a really nice G500 last year that actually needed a good few thousand+ dollars worth of work in little things like seals and big things like half shafts (torn boots) that I would not have noticed.

I don't like the looks of that leak. Have it checked out by a reputable independent shop or dealer. The damage to the panel near the tow hook may have been caused by pulling or lifting the truck at that location. Are there any service records available from the seller?

Hi Holson,
thank you for your comment.
Probably yes, they put spacers, here they are all like this at the point that did not even notice.
I'll try to request an inspection from another garage... as you said the bills can go up very fast.. I really like this model and the leak is the only thing that makes me esitate, a lot.

Hi Pdeacon,

There is no history so I requested the chassis number and I went to the dealer where the car has been purchased in 2008.
They said the car has been serviced there (official dealer here in dubai) until 2015 (60 k km). Apparently in 2015 the owner had an accident at the back and requested an estimation (they do not provide details as he decided to not repair), it can be the scratch at the rear bumper.

I am really worried about that leak so if move forward I will definetly request a check.. still trying to find what is the part of the car that is leaking.. the gearbox?
