Does anyone think the 2019 will actually be comfortable to drive ?
Hi All, first I’d like to say I’m a MB fan and have loved my S63 sedan and my S550 Coupe. I’m in need of a new SUV and am considering giving the 2019 G Wagon a try. Is it still going to feel like riding a donkey bareback down the Grand Canyon or will the 2019 be worthy of 4hr road trips to visit the family in relative comfort? Thanks...

We are on G-Class #8 or 9 now since about 2002. The G is VERY firm on city streets and of course in canyons and mountains...but for highway or long trips, we find the G-Class to be the ultimate long distance runner. We have had a G500, G550 and many G55 and G63 models. We have driven Gs, all model years, across state lines...hours and hours of non-stop driving and the seats front and rear are supremely comfortable and the suspension shines on the highway!
The 2019 will for sure be softer, since it will be the first time ever the G-Class will have an independent front suspension, instead of the solid it has had since the 1970s! I love the exterior of the 2019 G....it's like the G, just softer and more modern, but as of now I HATE the interior. The 2019 G-Class interior belongs in an E or S sedan...not the G-Class.

MBWorld Fanatic!
If I were looking for a supremely comfortable SUV, I would look at the GLS550 and put the smaller GLS450 wheels on it (an option apparently), or just save some money and get a GLS450 since it's plenty fast already and spend it on options! It also looks really good after the 2013 or so facelift.
I can't imagine the 2019 G being nowhere near as comfortable but it sure looks different.
No idea on Range Rovers but I'd imagine it's up there with the GLS.
