help with electrical behaviour
i'm just got a 2005 g55, and trying to troubleshoot some electrical issues.
1/ cars auto-lock after about 30sec, unless i open the driver door. It auto-locks even if i open the back door: is it normal ?
2/ the cargo lights do not light up when opening the back/cargo door. They do not light up when pushing the overhead switch, unless i switch the ignition ON. Normal ?

I'm not sure about your first question, my truck doesn't autolock at all. I would guess this is a setting that can be changed with Xentry software. I think the cargo lights sound normal. Do they turn on with the rear switch? The latch on the rear cargo door can rotate and turn on the cargo lights.

you can change your auto-lock settings in COMAND IIRC. Otherwise that sounds correct, I think the trigger to not do it is the driver door unless you have autolock turned off.
On your rear door, you may be having issues with your microswitch that is in the door latch. It is pretty common (mine is bad) and requires replacing the latch.

It is weird though: i would have assumed that if the microswitch was bad, i would have a door open warning when the back door is closed...
Do you have your cargo lights lighting up when you open the back door ?

I agree that ultimately that is what will happen (that is where mine is now).
But my first issues started with a few months of the light just not going out first. Then it progressed to the dash giving me the warning. I have just been too lazy to replace the latch/switch.
Not saying I understand what is causing it, other than through process of elimination that is where I am at haha

i don't know what to troubleshoot any more...
the doors locks from central locking, fuse are fine, no open back door warning when i drive. cargo lights light up when keys in ignition and i press the cargo lights switch.
The only things that don't work are : the cargo light does not light up when i open the back door, and the cars locks itself up after 30 seconds if i open the backdoor (it does not locks itself up if i open any other doors).

Do you mean the doors lock 30 seconds after unlocking using the keyfob? If so, I believe this is a setting on your instrument cluster display. A lot of cars have this feature now. I don't recall the exact setting, but I can check mine when I get home if you haven't checked this already

what is not "standard behaviour", is that is does lock after 40sec even if I open the tailgate...
which makes me think that the microswitch in the tailgate lock assembly is defective, even though i don't get a "back door open" warning on the instrument cluster...
and changing the backdoor lock assembly is %$@%$#%@.
