Here's some interior shots:

I went with the open pore "Fiddlegrain" Ash wood, it's a matte black with open pores. It looks really nice. I know you can get other woods, but brown woods or even colored woods make the interior seem dated (IMO), kind of like old Rolls Royces or other luxury brands years ago (or older Gwagons for that matter).

Anyway, I think the standard seat stitching is boring as hell, so I would recommend upgrading the interior. Very nice I think:

Boy, they don't look pre-drilled SF, nightmare

Beautiful, just beautiful. Is that the open pore ash? I did the polished, but it was a toss-up on polished or open pore.

I see you did the rubber mats; did it come with a rear cargo mat? I tried to order a rubber cargo mat and parts said "not yet available"...

Yes, it is the open pore ash, but for some reason they call it different on the sticker (they told me it would be a different name). The matte open pore wood is killer. If you can change your wood, I wood, hahaha. We've got the black lacquer on our ML63. It's nice, but shows the figureprints more and I don't like the gloss look as much as the matte look.

Yeap, got the all weather mats. They come a total of 5. Front Driver and Passenger, Left and right rear passenger and then one for the rear "hump" between the left and right rear passenger. They're pretty cool. The fronts snap down, the rears float. No cargo mat was available at the time and it looks like it still is not. I'll get that for sure. Got the MB one for our 2015 G550 and it fits great (the Weathertek one we had did not).

Very balanced config. Congrats again!

I hate when dealers don’t care and drill holes. Probably one of the guys moving/parking cars did as a part of his chores (i.e., checklist)

Do you know if ventilated seats are available as an option for the rear?

Heated rear seats standard; no ventilated available.

This is what my dealership told me:

"Hello Mark, When vehicles enter the country the US specific accessories are installed at the VPC in long beach. Some Vehicles come in with a front plate installed and others do not. Regardless of when it is fitted, all Us and European Plate frame holders are drilled into the front bumper of most of our vehicles, including the S-class and GT models. Mercedes actually leaves little dimples in the bumper for the technicians when they safety inspect the vehicles at the VPC and the Dealership for perfect alignment and clean drill holes."

What do you guys think? Is this true?

Picked up my G last week in Atlanta. No holes in my bumper at all. Dealer gave me the front plate holder in case I ever need to install it. In the grill below the bumper there are 2 places in the grill to screw it in.

I’m not sure about GA rules as I live in another state but either way it appears someone incorrectly installed your front plate. It could have been installed with 2 screws in the mesh area where the holes align with the brackets underneath. If you zoom in on the bumper picture you can see the 2 screw holes where they should have drilled. Hope that helps you.

No more MB:(
Ouch, just saw this, I think you definitely need to push back on this. Especially after learning that there is a place in the mesh area for the application. Someone wasn't thinking when they did this.

Can someone with a 2019 G550 confirm that there are not "little dimples" in the front painted bumper for screws to mount the front license plate holder? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

No “dimples” on my bumper. There are “dimples” on the license place bracket.

Update on my situation. The dealership has agreed to repair the incorrectly mounted front license plate. They are providing a loaner vehicle for the 2 days that will be needed. Certainly hope the body shop can match the metallic paint well? Good thing it's not a new color, Designo White Metallic has been in the line up for quite some time. I'll let you know how it turned out.

Update on my ownership. The light that illuminates the seat heating function has failed

hey man if they are repainting it themselves that’s fine if not ask them specifically to send it to a Mercedes Benz approved Body Shop. I don’t know how it works in the states but in Canada once the tow truck driver scratched my bumper on my s63 coupe in Magno cashmere, the dealership painted it and failed miserably. Once I stressed and urged that the job be done properly they indicated that they had body shops that were official or Mercedes Benz recommended. Just leaving it out here in case it can save you an extra headache. Really have to be a mule to drill two holes in a bumper, that person should know better and it’s so unacceptable

One advice - don’t get the bumper painted, live with the holes or just get them plugged. I had bad experience with the Lexus white metallic paint in similar situation

Ok, I talked to my buddy who is a HUGE Mercedes / AMG person and he directed me to a boutique shop that only does super high end work (Ferrari's Lambos, bentleys RR etc). He talked with them and they are good with the color I have, so I think I'm good. I'll give you an update once that all occurs.

Thanks for the input. Very helpful!

then you should be fine ! It’s more the matte finish that’s honestly hard to replicate, but a good paint shop will save you the time

Sarlox,

Been busy since Tgiving, but I’d like to throw in a few comments:.

1. Your truck is gorgeous! I thought hard both about the diamond stitching and open pore wood myself.

2. I’m new to the G, but the exhaust is louder than I expected. My M6 was quite muted compared to the G.

3. I have a rear cargo mat on order with my dealer. They claim they will get it in a few days.

4. I let my dealer talk me into not putting a front plate on my X5M a few years back. I got a ticket the very next day. My dealer didn’t want to mount the front plate on my G, but I insisted. Since I tend to drive a bit fast, having one less reason to be pulled-over is a plus for me.

5. Bigger and more aggressive tires certainly improve the overall look. There are a lot of tire choices and an associated wide range of ride characteristics. Standard load tires will feel softest and grow stiffer going from XL to C to D. D load tires certainly makes it feel more truck-like and weigh 56lbs vice 38 lbs, so there will also be impacts on mileage and performance.

6. My biggest frustration is with MB Command. I would love if my Profile would remember every setting and not force me to turn off LKA and NAV voice guidance every time I start he truck.

7. I’m averaging about 14mpgs. If I was the EPA, I would set the G’s numbers to 15 city and 13 highway. (Think Western speed limits.)

8. I got my first scratch. Hopefully, you’ll keep yours more pristine.

Hi Dunderhi,

Sorry about the scratch, I obsess about them, but it never helps.

Did you happen to get the part number for the mat? My dealer said it was unavailable, a week back.

No problem with the scratch, she’s officially broken-in.

I called my dealer to ask why it wasn’t included with the all weather mats package. They said it was listed separately and they would order one and sell it to me at their employee discount. I didn’t get any specifics.

Great build Sarlox! As a newbie to this forum, I really appreciate all the great insights and photos. Jealous you have it now - I put my order in last week and was told it would be about 6-7 MONTHS for delivery - and this is being purchased from a factory dealer! I'm hoping that this will be sooner, but seems like they are very backed up especially given how few they make each year. Agonized over colors and options in the virtual builder for a while, but here's where I ended up:
