G class
Mercedes nannies - active lane keep assist

Been driving our new 2019 g550 for a week now. Not really a Benz fan but I’ve loved the g class for quite some time and with additional rear leg space I can lug the kids around too. Great vehicle but, does anyone know how to deactivate the active lane keep assist permanently? There is a small button which you have to hold for several seconds to the left of steering wheel but you have press the bloody thing every time you start the vehicle. It’s driving me nuts, it’s intervened twice and quite unsafely when leaving the highway. I’d love to turn it off forever, please advise. Thx in advance.

On my E Class I can turn it off just by pushing the button and it stays off unless I activate it. Same with my previous S Class. I'm not required to hold the button for any length of time.

My dealer researched it, but couldn’t find a permanent off solution. I’ve put 4K miles on my ‘19 and I’ve gotten into the habit of disabling it after every engine start.

The really dangerous part is I had a guy drift into my lane on the highway and I reacted by swerving onto the shoulder and the LKA jerked the truck back into the lane. We almost collided.
