G550 Insurance Cost

What are you all paying for insurance on your 550's? I'm expecting a big number. I'm going to make sure to get windshield insurance after reading another thread!

I haven't experienced a larger premium for the G. Same as my other cars. About $1,800/year and glass is included under Massachusetts's insurance regulations.

dunderhi 02-14-2019 02:04 PM

The premium is a couple hundred more than my ’15 M6. Here in MD, it is ~$2,300/yr with $500k/$1M for liability. Deductibles are $50/$300 for comp/coll. I also have large SUV rental & vehicle replacement coverage. For comparison, the premium for my wife’s ’19 X3 is ~$1,100.

I had to get my windshield replaced on a ’13 BMW 650. It had a HUD, so they windshield had to be special ordered, which took longer. IIRC, the glass was zero deductible.

$1350 Canadian per year with $3000 deductible.

FatTony001 12-30-2019 11:04 AM

Anyone else can share there insurance cost ? Maybe tell what G version and year and deductible, if Canadian or US quote.
I’m about to get a 2018 G63 and wanna know if my insurance quote is good or not.

kim0217 12-30-2019 11:40 AM

1800/ year for 19 G63 alone in Manhattan. 500 deductible for comprehensive and collision. No deductible for windshield. Age 28 with multi cars, condo insurance thru State Farm.

FatTony001 01-11-2020 01:34 PM

Ok got my quote. 1,625$ CAD with 2k deductible (lowest Aviva insurance would go for a $150k+ vehicule).
With plurial vehicule and home with same insurance.
Really not that bad for a 2018 G63. From Canada. Was sure it would be like 3k per year.
Had to install an anti-theft system for 500$.
2M in resposibility

Same experience here, maybe a couple hundred more even compared to my 2015 Taurus SHO :)

Same here in NJ as well. I pay $1600 a year. $500 collision deductible, and $100 comprehensive deductible. I got the $100 comprehensive mainly for the windshield, and it was only an extra $60 a year.

2018 G550
USD
$1000 collision deductible
$1000 comprehensive deductible
$700/yr premium
no windshield insurance/coverage, no windshield problems since I've owned it (knock on wood)

KurtisWagen 01-11-2020 05:31 PM

I have an 02 G500 and I pay $744 a year for full coverage with a $500 deductible. USAA has been absolutely amazing.

Telly Bettis 01-11-2020 05:50 PM

2500.00 per year is what i was quoted. Alabama state farm

hyperion667 01-11-2020 06:43 PM

WOW...which part of Canada are you in? Please don't tell me Ontario.

What’s amazing in this conversation is you’re talking about windshield coverage and not the total liability limits on policy coverages. Are you guys crazy? Deductibles ? Really? Do you have any idea what is “full coverage”?

Do you all realize that’s what you’re buying here is $$$ limits and it has nothing to do with windshields? How about a conversation about whether it’s 250k, 500k, 1 million 2 million, my God guys get real I’m sorry I’ll put my heat shield on now.

I only mentioned the windshield because people were quoting their deductibles, so I was explaining why I paid extra for only having a $100 comprehensive. In case you dont have a G class, they are notorious for cracked windshields.

But, keeping in mind that I also have a $1M umbrella policy that I pay $310 for, here is what I pay $1600 a year for in NJ on a 17 G550...

Now it makes more sense.

If I may offer some advice. That 100k UIM is really low, Probably cost less than $100 a year to make it 250 K. And check your umbrella to see if it has an endorsement for uninsured motorists or underinsured motorist. It probably does not, so that means that it only covers your negligence not when somebody else is at fault.

I'd consider a lawsuit against uninsured drivers(or insurance commission) for when they're at fault, it's complete BS to require drivers to have insurance and then charge the people that actually pay their bills for uninsured motorists.....fawking sham man!

Thanks. I’m not sure why my agent has it so low. I’ll check with him

In NJ, driving without insurance is one of the worst penalties you can get, so I don't know how bad the problem is here. I once didn’t have my card with me when I was pulled over. Since I was able to prove in court that I did, in fact, have insurance at the time of the stop, I got away with only paying $450 for not having my card with me, plus the wasted day in court.

If I actually hadn’t been insured, I would have lost my license for a year, and $1000 penalty. Second offense is mandatory jail time.

got away with $450 for not having your card?? That’s crazy. In Atlanta all they do is just dismiss it upon proof. Also in most states there is at least a 50 to 60% chance that the driver has no insurance or is under insured so more importantly if you get an umbrella make sure it endorses the UIM. Chances are your company won’t offer it and that tells you everything you need to know.
