2019 G550 1 Quart low Alert
We've had our G550 since November last year and in 2 months (1500 miles), got a notice to "add 1 quart of oil". Car was taken in to MB dealer and apparently I was told that they can't simply add a quart since the new models don't have "dip sticks" to check the level. So car had to be connected to diagnostics and then oil added. Fast forward 3 months and got same notice for another quart of oil. No leakage on garage floor.
Anyone else had similar notice? Wondering if its a bad sensor?

The dealer is going to tell you that your oil consumption is within the acceptable range. There are other posts on this forum that have brought up this issue but they were mainly dealing with the G63 model. My suggestion would be to document your dealer inquiries in the event that this develops into a serious issue. I doubt if you will get any satisfaction from MB unless consumption drops below Quart at less than 1,000 miles. Good luck....

So took the G wagon in today and they checked and found zero oil leaks. The tech that worked on the car only does G wagons and in his opinion thought that the sensor was "too sensitive" thereby brought up the warning. He added 1.3 qts of oil to go over the detector threshold and said there is enough room to add full 3 qts before the max is reached so no worries about overfilling the oil reservoir. I will monitor it and let everyone know if it happens again.

Same in the 18 G63. Our dealer has a G-Class only tech (Gs are quirky and different from every other MBZ). They have told us several times the oil sensor is sensitive. We only add a Qt. when the add 1 Qt. warning comes on, but it would easily take 2.
Btw, the 2018 G63 only has a ADD 1 Quart warning...even if you need 3. Kind of lame, but it is what it is!

Wow. terrible luck. Please keep us posted on how the engine swap goes for you. Where you located? Curious what the dealer is loaning you in the interim?

Damn, an engine replacement on a 2019 G550! That is insane! So sorry this is happening to you! This would be upsetting and stressful on an inexpensive new car purchase, but when one spends over $100,000 the expectations and demands are much higher. I have had similar issues with TWO new Rolls-Royce Think it sucks in a G....try a Rolls!!
