2009 G55 Sunroof - Will tilt but not close

So I have read countless threads on various forums but none address my particular issue.

The sunroof will tilt up but then nothing (will not open fully, close... just tilt up). I have to close the roof manually using the manual winder in the rear panel. I'm assuming since it it tilts that the motor is not the issue. I do hear a clicking from the switch/relay in the overhead control unit when trying to close or open the roof fully. Could it be the overhead control unit? My auto light/rain sensor is also not working, which I know is controlled by that unit.

I have a icarsoft diagnostics tool, the only error it throws up is the rain/light sensor having an open circuit (same control unit)

Any ideas?

Interesting. My sunroof opens under its own power - one touch and it goes all the way - then doesn't close or tilt. If I wind it back manually it moves fine - same resistance back and forth. Possibly the controller? I'll bookmark this and see how you go.

I'm pretty certain it uses the same controller as an old c class, so may pick one of those up and test it before committing to dismantling the headlining.

That's the one I was planning to buy. I'm pretty certain the control unit sits in there.

Just make sure the Hella part number below matches your unit. I think there's a few variations, although part of the code may be colour.

Winder?
It's been a while but if I remember correctly.... If you open your back door/Boot, there's a panel to your left that you can remove and behind you will find the motor. Use a wrench or Allen key to wind the motor manually.
