'16 G63 glass chip near pillar. repair or replace?
hi all
i know theres a big thread building on new G glass issues so i didnt want to stuff this in there..
one week into owning 16 G63 , took a rock hit and got a chip with "star" about 1/2" diameter
and close to the passenger A pillar. the chip is not in the heated zone, about 1" off frame.
MB recs a replacement. i have full glass at allstate but wondering if even necessary and dealer taking a payday.
going in tomorrow AM

I would repair it and go from there. Had a similar chip on my 2015 G63 near the A- Pillar also and was barely able to see it after the repair 4 years ago. They might also mess up the windshield heater wires when they replace it which happened on my previous G.

I'd repair it. Had it done on an SL when it was new and never had a problem with the repair. What do you have to lose. If the repair works all is well. If not you replace. Good luck!
