May be buying a G55k
Long time lurker here...
Life long Mercedes fan... Love them all! Especially the early AMG products.
Either way, selling a couple toys to downsize my project backlog and living in the Mid-Atlantic area, it makes sense to have a "capable" 4x4 for the winter months. I previously drove Jeeps and Fords so I'm somewhat prepared for re-entering the land of terrible gas mileage (I drive about 15-20K a year just to and from work) and the G55k would be my daily driver.
Found one somewhat local with ~75K on the clock and she seems to have a boat load of maintenance history from new (now on the third owner). I'm looking forward to becoming an active part of this forum.
I'm a DIYer and figure this would be an easy enough platform to wrench on.
Any tips and tricks for the new guy, i'm all ears!

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
the 55 is a really solid motor so I'd focus on the body and seals.... I looked at a few 55's before jumping on a low mileage 63 and found several had rust issue on the windows and rear hinges... and they appear to eat door regulators annually....
otherwise they're tanks mechanically.... coming from a long line of Landcruiser builds I'm impressed with the solidity - and suprised how similiar they are to the 80 series...( albeit with about 3 times the HP...)
