A question.... can you use the steering wheel "touch control thingy" to navigate Carplay screens, or are you limited to the wheel controller in the center console?

You can use the steering wheel.
However if you leave carplay, the only way to go back is by going "home" then selecting it. If you hit "Nav", it takes you out to the benz navigation not CarPlay. Super annoying!

You can use the touch buttons on steering as you’d do in a MacBook touch pad...whatever is on the screen you can move around, even CarPlay
right one controls nav screen on right and left one in-dash instrument panel...

They are 2 entirely different programs. I wish I could get rid of the slow Mercedes OS all together and just use CarPlay. 😂 Originally Posted by johnnyderm

I'm thinking of installing one of my older iphones in the car with carplay fully controling the system. I'm not a fan of how the car overrides many of the phones functions when connecting to carplay. haven't had time to play with it.
Hate starting new threads but anyone else notice how the interior floor lights flash blue and red when you adjust the temp down or up. Fun little easter egg.
