Maybe its just me but the new G-wagon just lacks presence like the old one. Am sure its an awesome car to drive and all. But It just looks "mild" to me.
I had the same sentiments, but once you see the new ones up close, you will change your mind. Yeah the edges are softer, the sharp angles smoothed out, but they still have the profile, height, and presence.
what size lift/ tires are you running on the 2017 g65 ?
it’s roughly 80mm-90mm. The 65s require a mixture of spacers and springs because the weight is different than a 63. I have a NIB lift for the G65 if you are interested. I was going to build another one and then bought the new 63 instead so I have the lift left over.

hmmm, its just you. 🤷♂️
i am surprised how many looks and thumbs up I get in G63... it has massive presence... think it draws more attention than my supercars. 😊
The only people who know the difference between the old and new models are the people on this forum. The general public isn't aware of the nuances of the change. I have owned both new and old models. General reaction is just the same. A G is a G as far as non enthusiasts are concerned.

Indeed true. In that respect, MB succeeded with their update to the G.
A little bit of water can be good for the off-road diet of the G from time to time. Every once in a while we get some rain in the desert here in AZ....

Great to see the G doing what it's meant to do. Here's mine.
