High Revs during Start up. G63
Hey guys.
hope everyone is well and staying safe.
Last year I went in to the dealer for Service B, while my truck was in there, they found that my truck needed an ECU update or there was a recall or something.
2019040001 - Update Engine Electronics Control unit software
control unit software 16181WMB08
Ever since that B service or software update, my truck revs high when I start the car sometimes. It’s random does not matter whether truck is cold or warm. Sometimes when I start the car, the revs races to the 4k,5K range by itself as if I started the car with my foot on the pedal. It races high RPMS for a few seconds then comes down.
it never did this prior to the service B/software update
im curious, is this normal? Did they screw up something during the B service? Anyone else experiencing this? I spoke to a Mercedes technician and was told this is Mercedes’s new way of making sure the left over gas is burnt , better emissions or the car is more environmentally friendly something in those lines. My truck only has 45k miles

4k rev at the start up is bad for the engine and not normal.
What year do you have?
all my other AMG’s have a 20 seconds high rev of about 1.5k rev than drops down to low normal neutral 0.5 (from memory)
but the G63 (2018 in my case) does not rev up at start. It stays at low rev.
Hope this helps you to go back to the dealer.

G63 AMG
2013 g 63 high rev at start
Mine has been doing this for about 2 months now. Anyone have any updates. It revs to about 3 k then drops normal. My other s63 acts normal at cold start in the am. The G ALWAYS rev high warm or cold initially. Thank you all in advance !

model year and location ? Indy shop would be my choice..... Stealerships will give you corp line- or try to throw parts at it.....IMHO.
