2020 G550
What is this little nub thing under the cargo windows?

On the 2020 G550, in the cargo region below both side windows within the vent region there is this structure:

It looks similar to something on the top of the dash on my friend's S-class so I initially thought it was some kind of sensor. But when I looked more closely, it was like a solid half-sphere of plastic.

Unless I missed it, I couldn't find anything in the manual about some sort of gear attachment here.

Maybe it's nothing? thanks.

Temp. sensor? It has to be something with a purpose.

I think it is a photocell/light sensor. But I'm just guessing based on looks.

Another idea if those vents are functional, is the dome could be a sensor tied into the A/C logic that may direct more cold air flow to that location if the sun is beating down on it.

Experiment. With the car on in the day, cover it and observe if anything happens. With the A/C on, put some heat on it. When the dome I have on my dash which looks very similar is covered in the day, the headlights come on. Uncover it and they turn off.

I thought it was a perimeter sensor for the section between the front and rear sensors. I always assumed these dome shaped structures are sensing the sides for not only when we're backing out of our garages but when a vehicle comes up along side which activates the red triangles on the outside mirrors. Below are photos form my G63 but the same sensors are on my G550 (although missing the 360 camera view of surroundings which isn't available on the G550).
