G63 - any advice for a new owner?

My G just got picked up, on its way to the PPF shop.

Just curious of your driving experiences as a 1st time G63 owner - what were your first impressions when driving it? Does it take time getting used to driving it or does it generally feel like a taller suv?

I’ve read articles, watched reviews but would like to hear from actual owners.

Thanks all!

Did you ever test drive one? Yeah, kinda like a tall SUV but that is doing it an injustice...pretty much a unique experience.

I drove it but was in traffic. Couldn’t take it fast at all or go on a highway.

Curious of the driving experience. Is there a lot of wind feel under the body of the car at speeds.. any impressions that stand out?

It's an amazing experience that lasts, at least for me. The wind noise at speed is there (> 120 Km/h), of course, look at it... LOL, but the sum of all the remaining emotions you'll feel, will make you feel special every single time you'll "climb" in it.

The driving experience is really hard to explain. My reference point is my '16 G that I drove for three years and really enjoyed even with all its idiosyncrasies. The revamped model is much more refined and, in my opinion, gives a much better ride and handling feel. It still has some idiosyncrasies that will come through pretty clearly if you are a first time owner. But those quirks are endearing and makes the G what it is. Yes, there is wind noise at speed because you are pushing the equivalent of a 5,000 pound cement block through the air. Not very aerodynamic. But I still love it. The upgraded suspension coupled with interior refinement and improve ergonomics has made mine my daily driver and allowed me to sell off my E Class cab and S 550. I now feel the G fills most of my needs. Be prepared to garner a lot of attention and comments. It is hard to pump gas (which you will be doing quite often) without someone acknowledging your ride. Lots of thumbs up on the road. Although the G is quite common in other markets they are really quite rare in the northeast to the point where it is common to wave to each other when you do encounter another one. Good luck with your new G. Many miles of safe and happy motoring.

Thank you for the post. I’ve heard about the wind noise.. part of the experience I guess.
