Winter set up
Hey guys,
My 2020 G63 is running the OEM 22" Y-spoke AMG wheels. They are wrapped in the factory Perrelli Sport 295/40 R22 112W tires.
I tried TireRack and the Benz part dept but cant find a winter or even all-season tire for these OEM 22 Y-spoke AMG wheels.
I'm curious if, 1) you guys know of a manufacture that offers a tire for these 22" wheels; 2) if they need to be the same 295/40 R22 size; or if they need to have the 112W rating?
Am I better off just buying a winter wheel and tire set? (probably >$5K min)
Thanks guys!

Your better off to get a set of 20” or 21” wheels. I bought blizzard dm-v2 for the 20” rims. Will change out. You won’t get good snow tires for 22”. People sell their 20” stock rims and make them a dedicated winter set.

Get a set of 20's and put some blizzaks on her. Powder coat the wheels black:

I haven't heard of this vendor. Did you source yours directly from them? How is the quality? Are they actually OEM or copies?
Check out what the dealership quoted me for the same 20" wheels.

Yes, good vendor, bought before - they are MB wheels / OEM yes.
I get them and take them to a custom shop near me to mount, balance, powdercoat, and it works out.

Given the cost of the second set of OEM wheels/tires Ive started looking at aftermarket options. Ive discovered there are little to no options for the G wagon given the bolt pattern, load rating and finding a winter tire that fits.
I have the factory 22" Y-spoke AMG wheels. They came with a factory 295/40 R22. My local shop has found a replica wheel that looks identical and meets to load rating etc. That said, they are slightly different width. They run a 285/40 R22 winter tire, which to my understanding, means they are slightly less wide and larger in overall dimension. (I think its 7/10th of inch larger in dimension to the 295/40 R22 summers).
Question: will this 285/40 R22 winter tire set up throw anything off or potentially damage anything? I plan on keeping the truck for a while and only want to do this once. Don't want to find out Ive messed up a suspension or transmission component or something at the 3-4yr mark.
Thanks for your help guys.
