31mm or 50mm spacers for 2009 G550

Hey guys, I just bought a G550 a few weeks ago and I want to install spacers. It seems most G owners are going with 31mm spacers. Is 50mm too big? I have a 2 inch spacer lift and I put 33 inch Ridge Grapplers on the stock 18 inch tires. I plan on installing the AMG fenders and I want the wheels to stick out slightly for a more aggressive look. Will a 31mm spacer suffice? Also, will spacers affect the driving characteristics in any way? I've heard that some people experience some shaking in the steering at 80-85 mph. Thank you!

IMHO, 31 mm is the max for driveability and not creating excessive cantilevered bearing loads which can be problematic on a G.

That's great to know. Thank you Floobydust. Good thing I didn't order the 50mm. I just hope that the tires at least fill out the AMG fenders with the 31mm. Thank you

With the 31mm wheel spacers, they will fill out the AMG fenders pretty well. Most people go with this option. With the 50mm option, you'll stick out past the AMG wide fenders. A few members have done this also, mostly due to running much larger and wider tires, or running different wheels that require the back spacing to clear the brake calipers.

A set of good wheel spacers, like the H&R's that several G vendors sell, will not cause any wobbling or anything abnormal at higher speeds (of course be sure to follow the recommended top speed rating for your tire). They will also widen the track by 62mm total (2.44") so should increase side to side stability. I plan to go with 31mm spacers later in the year when I change tires on my AMG wide fenders.

I have the 31 mm H&Rs on my 2014 but the standard fenders. No driveability issues and it does give it a more aggressive stance.

31mm H&R wheel spacers will suffice, you might run into issues if you go anything over... they will look good but I wouldn’t want to deal w problems.. make sure to torque the spacers to spec...
