Hopefully, by the time the G63 finally gets MBUX, it will be the new and improved MBUX-2, as seen on the new fabulous S-class. The huge central screen is so fantastic, and allows the driver to use the new central touch screen without having to lean & stretch, as you have to with the current MBUX. I know, as we have MBUX on my wife’s GLS450. The best part with MBUX-2, is Mercedes finally got rid of the original MBUX stupid space robbing, dated, and oh, so clunky mouse pad, and the fist resting bizarre flat stump thingy sitting just behind it. As soon as MBUX-2 is offered on the G63, I shall trade mine in.

It's going to take a lot more than MBUX to get me to trade mine in. I select the XM Radio station I want via the steering wheel control and off I roll...very seldom do I need to do I need to do anything much with the Infotainment system so it is a very small part of my driving experience.

The voice activated systems are never great. I don’t want to talk to my car. Siri sucks. I’m sure in 5-10 years it will be much better; but for now, I don’t want MBUX. Also, you lose full screen Apple CarPlay with MBUX, which is a BIG miss. Again, I’m sure it will be rectified in the future, but who knows when.

The G glass is not going to get the new S-class UX. Maybe for the redesign, but that’s not for a while. It took about 40 years to redesign the last one

fully agree here and i am not a fan of that super big “tesla” screen... cant see how they would do that in the G.

Consider yourself lucky. MBUX is a total audio abomination! I will not own or drive an MB equipped with such. I had a loaner equipped with MBUX and after three days of dealing with the misguided ****-poor audio design choices, I parked it in the driveway and drove one of my other vehicles for the duration.

What does MBUX have to do with the audio quality?

Apparently, some Burmester audio changes were made in the FUP3 update. No official source, but people have said their audio is better after getting dealers to update.

The MBUX system is responsible for processing all audio in the car. There are two major issues with it. One, MB still insists on inflicting the speed controlled volume pestilence on listeners like they have for 35 years, only now they have revised the algorithm to make it even more aggressive and annoying. I have been able to correct this design flaw on all of my previous and current MBs, but it will be essentially impossible without a custom developed CAN blocker with MBUX. And because of the heavy car system integration, you can't replace MBUX with a properly designed system.

The second issue is that some inexperienced junior level engineer set the digital volume control stepping at 6 db/step (I measured it - 6 db @ 1Khz, C weighting). If an engineer on my team approved something this asinine, they would be unemployed by lunch time.

This, in combination the the SCV pestilence virtually guarantees that the audio level with either be too loud or too soft. After three days of driving with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the volume control, I had had it and parked the car.

It is ironic, the lead developer behind MBUX was quoted talking about the wonder "visual and tactile experience" of MBUX. But they clearly forgot about the most important sense of all for an audio system - the ears.

MBUX is a prime example of both engineering arrogance and engineering ignorance.
