Angry 2020 G63 and CarPlay Trouble

Hey all, I took delivery of a 2020 G63 a couple of days ago. It's amazing.

However, I've been using Apple CarPlay to play music from my phone, and the sound quality is really bad. Audio clips and distorts, and it generally just doesn't seem super high-fidelity. Is this a known issue? Anyone else experienced this?

Go in settings while you’re plugged in with CarPlay on and deactivate surround . Also adjust mid/bass/treble settings, it’s absolutely fine and I m very picky about audio system quality and sound clarity

The system sounds better without surround? Guess I should play with it when I have time.

Interestingly, I turned ON "Sound Check" in the Apple Music settings and that fixed the distortion problem. I guess the lack of the Sound Check feature was enabling some clipping. Weird, because I always thought Sound Check was supposed to be turned off (according to what I've read about its performance).

I tried messing with Surround. DIdn't really change anything. I did notice Surround is OFF by default. I don't know why?
