Axle Load Proportioning Sensor OK to leave disconnected

I’ve noticed that the rod connecting the axle load sensor to the rear control arm of my 2013 G550 with Thor Springs and OME shocks will sometimes pop off after off roading. I’ve just popped it back on every time, and never noticed any difference in braking before as, if I understand the function correctly, this is part of the brake proportioning system adjusting brake force F/R. While adding a small rear coil spacer this weekend, I noticed that at full droop the connected rod appears to limit full shock extension by half an inch or so, which is why it probably pops off when I’m having fun with the G.

My question is, is there any meaningfully negative impact if I keep it permanently disconnected so as to not damage the rod or sensor when it pops off? I don’t run heavy loads and don’t plan to overland, just day trips when off road for the most part....
