2017 G63 tires/brakes/rotors

It's time to change the tire/brakes/rotors and wanted to hear your guys opinion.

Should I go with factory brakes/rotors or is there a better option?

What about tires? Mine comes with Yokohama Advan's, but I have heard alot of people recommend the Pirelli Scorpion Verde's or even the Pzeros. But those are threads from long ago so maybe there are better options now.

I live in Phx,az so I don't need winter tires but the tires do need to be satisfactory in rain and even very light snow.

Any opinions or experience?

Thanks!

Answers depend on your driving style - are you a "spirited" driver or conservative? How many miles have you logged on the current sets?

My wife drives it, so the driving is very conservative.

My current set have about 30k miles on it, and have alot of tread left. Their problem is that the outer thread is going bald from uneven wear (even though everything aligned) and the wheel starts to shake ALOT after 60mph. They tried to balance the tires and said i3 of the tires wouldn't pass the roadforce balance test and they couldn't save them.

If the tires were OE (usually selected for cost and EPA mileage), then you can't complain much about 30K. But if you've kept them balanced, rotated and inflated, (and there's nothing off on the vehicle's alignment), and the wear has still been uneven, then there's not much motivating you to replace them with the same brand and model. I'd consult your tire dealer -- they have the most experience matching your needs to tire choices, and usually are making their profit on the warranty add-on, not the particular tire they sell you. Others on this forum rave about ceramic brake pads -- pricey, but quiet, long-life, and very low dust -- if you can find a set to fit your calipers. Are your rotors warped or badly scored? You can usually get at least one machining out of a set for far less $$ than a brand new set. But your life rides on tires and brakes, and I never go on the cheap with either one.

My dealers don't care about anything but whatever will get them the most $$, so that is why I am trying to consult with the people on this forum. But it doesn't seem like there is s much of a active following on here as with my other cars.

Responding then to your original post, my 2019 G was OE'd with Pirelli Scorpion Zero A/S tires (that I took off at 1K miles). I live in CO and I wanted one set of tires for year-round use. After quite a bit of research, I went with Yokohama Geolandar A/Ts. After a year and 5K miles, I have no complaints -- quiet in the summer, great winter traction and good wear so far. On my Lexus, I had Michelin Defender LTX M/S's, and was really pleased with their wear (they're warranted for 70,000 miles). I went with the Geolandars only because of their "mountain/snowflake" rating. But if I lived in Phoenix, I would have gone with the Michelins. Neither of these tires are exciting (everyone on this Forum is gaga over Nitto Grapplers), but both are performers in my experience. I do my tire business with Discount Tire, and recommend them -- knowledgeable, efficient, good selection and competitive.
