Wireless charging 2021
My 2021 G 63 was supposed to come with wireless charging new for 2021. Now Mercedes is telling me that it was a $200 option that I didn’t choose. When I asked the general manager at the dealership, he said it wasn’t an option, I would have ordered it.

I hope it is sort of one OEM part could be simply attached to somewhere in the glove box, like my BMW. Do you know the part number for the option?

$200 for a charging module with the same technology that are give-aways at trade shows and sell for $5 in the close-out aisle at Walmart seems a bit steep. Carqiwireless makes a variety of car charging pads that might work for a center console mount application.

The GM at the dealership said it wasn’t an option. It’s on Mercedes website as being standard equipment. No wireless Apple Car Play either? Mercedes is supposed to be in touch with me today. Even a Honda has wireless charging.

Mercedes is saying since I ordered my vehicle in July that it was an option starting in September, I’m SOL. It wasn’t built until October, so this doesn’t make any sense.

I agree, it can’t be retrofitted, so what am I supposed to do, I just spent $178K, traded my Lexus for $7K less than what it was worth and Mercedes doesn’t care. This is my first Mercedes, I’ve owned several high end vehicles and never had anything like this happen before.

I’ve already paid sales tax and registered it, I would have to do that in order to sell it anyway. Not much I can do other than sell it, or get on the list for a 22. My dealership said it’s still not available now.
I also ordered winter tires and had them installed Tuesday. Not a very good first impression of Mercedes!

Get used to "Mercedes doesn't care" because they actually care much less than that. I'm seriously thinking about dumping the G and going back to Lexus who cares a lot.

The GM at the dealership said there’s no part number and it can’t be retrofitted. As of today, it’s still not available.

Well that's disappointing to hear but far from a deal breaker. If given the option at $200 I would have passed. I have wireless charging in my Honda so it's nice when it's free but not mandatory.

Enjoy the G and trade it in for a 2022 with minimal loss.

My G63 manual said i have it also and mine is a MY20 and clearly i dont. honestly, didnt even blink an eye. Too many good attributes the car has to even lose a second of sleep. go old school, plug it in to charge 😆

I keep a cigarette plug in charger in the glove box, next year’s I phone won’t have a charging port.
I keep my Valentine One Gen 2 plugged into the outlet in front, I guess, I can plug the charger into the cigarette lighter plug in the back seat.

agreed.... i dont think its a big deal to lose the wireless charging. phone sizes keep changing and some cars with smaller charging pads dont even fit the more recent bigger phones.
tons of wireless phone charging mounts on amazon if it matters so much.

I highly doubt it has it, I would assume inside the center console. Mine was built the first of October.
