Ideas for Rim, Tire, and Brake upgrades?
I think I want to go with the OEM AMG brakes, but I could be persuaded otherwise. I currently have the OEM 19 inch wheels, and brakes on the car, and I will likely want to continue using the 19s on the winter tires. But maybe go with 20-22's the rest of the year. I like some of the bigger OEM wheels, but also. some of the wheels from other manufacturers.
This is my current setup:
I dont know a whole lot about this and could use some guidance. I'm not sure what sizes will work, and which won't. Should I include spacers, etc. Any Ideas (with pictures) would be greatly appreciated.
I have seen a lot of really nice setups on this forum, and I did a search, looking for a thread exclusively about this with lots of pictures, but cant find what I am looking for. If one exists, and someone has a link to it, that would be appreciated as well. Or just post your own, right here on this thread.
Thank you.
If you're in a region where winter is really winter, IIWY I'd go with an inexpensive set of wheels so you don't feel bad when you slide into a curb and ding one. There are many excellent winter tires -- I've been running Bridgestone Blizzaks for 20 years and with them I can push snow uphill with my plow - no chains or studs. Don't get hung-up on looks -- winter driving is all about traction and control. Having a tow truck driver compliment you on how boss your tires look while you're handing him $200 for pulling you out of a ditch is not a great feeling.

Are you saying that if I go with larger wheels and the AMG setup for the other seasons, that won't work when winter comes back around and I try putting these 19's back on?

Regarding the 19" wheels, this is something you should check for fit if you're planning a brake upgrade. Do you really need the larger rotors and calipers? I've read a couple posts about AMG pads and rotors prices, so you have to really want them.
When moving to 20" or larger, my experience is that there's not much tire selection in 21", so stick with 20" or 22". As you've probably found from your forum searches, everyone seems to like rugged looking A/Ts like Nittos, Toyos, and KO2s. I went with a slightly less aggressive looking Yoko Geolandar in a close to OE size, and find them great year-round, and avoided any fitment issues.
You might have come across the website https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp that provides a great side-by-side visual comparison of tire/wheel sizes to help you figure out what will fit.
