Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share with you my new mod on my 2016 G63. Over the weekend i got the 10' android display and had a professional audio shop locally install it for me. The cost of the display was $899 from eBay. The cost of the installation was $350 and it took the shop 3 hours to complete. The final results are great. The display sits nicely like the OEM display which was 7'.

I created this for those of you that have questions regarding the device, installation or any other questions related to this topic. I can send more photos/videos upon request.

Thanks,

Yes. Ill post some pictures later today. I might take a short clip as well.

So far all i receive is compliments. The resolution is great and the OEM look of the screen makes it much better. Everything is operating as it should. Ive not had to make any compromises so far. The only complaint i could say and that's if I just want to complain is that when you start the car the apply car play takes about a minute to load, but then again this isn't something that bothers me at all because we have to let the car warm up anyways...Again, this is if i just want to complain for no reason lol. I love the mod. I think its worth the price and for what it offers. I highly recommend it!

Hi Jago1244,

No question is dumb. Yes, this does support apple car play. The device it self is a android, but it connects via zlink (app that is used for apple carplay).

Once you turn the car on, it will automatically connect to zlink which will pull up the wireless apple carplay. It is very easy and convenient. Hope this helps!

I have heard a few people say the audio is not as loud since this is hooked up thru the aux. have you noticed that? the sounds system in the G wagon is fairly weak so this is one of the main issues holding me back on this.

I didn't notice the sound get any worse. It does change a bit as you said because it gets connected to AUX, BUT you can manually change the equalizer and base and edit the sound to how you like. I have great sound quality right now.

Thanks,

So I have this screen...searched but couldn't find this answer.. If I'm back in the normal mercedes mode and not android auto on the screen, I can't use the touch screen...it will revert to android auto or the aftermarket screen modes. Is there a work around to this by chance, to use the touch screen but be on the factory screens?
thx

Hello,
You are correct. This is the function this display has. Once it goes into NTG mode, you're not able to navigate using the screen. However, you're able or should be able to use the turn knob on the center console or the buttons on the wheel.

Once you are out of NTG mode, you're able to use touchscreen, knob and the steering wheel buttons. I hope this helps answer your question.
