LOW VOLTAGE
one hour of driving no problem. Sitting my still for 5 minutes this message popped up on the info center
“LOW VOLTAGE TURN OFF...”
I don’t recall the exact message but basically it told me to turn everything off I didn’t need due to low voltage.
The light went off a few minutes later as I drove home and has not came back on.
battery tested at around 13v with the car running. I couldn’t get to the alternator.
I did drive through a rainstorm 20 minutes prior to the message appearing.
Has anyone had this issue or could shed some light on what might be causing this?
The battery is a MB battery but I cannot find a date on it. Is it hidden in the serial number on top of the battery?
The warning came on again today and again it was during idling with everything on. When I drove off after 10 minutes it went away with no problem.
in the service history I see an alternator was replaced not long after the truck was new.
This truck only has 26403 miles and seems to have been very well kept up so I’m wondering if either the reading on the info center is false or the alternator/ voltage regulator is slowly going bad which is why the issue seems to come and go.
When the alternator died on my Escalade it was a done deal and left me stranded! This is one reason why it concerns me but also makes me question if indeed there is a valid problem with the alternator.
The local auto parts stores do have the alternators and voltage regulators in stock. I might just replace both and see what happens.
Has anyone replaced their alternator? It looks very tight down there.
MB will be looking the truck over next week. Until then if there is an indeed an issue that can strand me and I can fix it...I’ll be fixing it!
