Ebrake / Hand brake boot issue

Hey gang,

Anyone know how to fix this?

My e-brake / handbrake boot has fallen into the console. Looks like there are a bunch of dimples that hold it in that have failed.

Any experience on a solution?

Found the microfische for the parts, but not seeing anything that looks like a replacement.

Yup. I've just deal with it Ian. You can put the boot back in place and it stays pretty well, and when you use the hand brake just don't pull it all the way up so the boot falls out.

I don't remember where the breakout parts diagram is but it's not in the center console interior one. I also was never able to find the boot part as all the part breakouts show the earlier style with the brushes, not the leather boot.

If you do find it though, LMK so I can replace mine too! I've thought about how to replace/fix this with a 3D printed part but just don't want to take the whole center console out.

Damn,

Was hoping when I saw you responded you had the answer LOL.

Ok I will live with it for a while then my OCD will find a solution.

Looks like little to no effort was put into how this stays attached, from what I see it's just a couple of small tabs that hold on by compression.

Keep ya posted

On mine, it's actually a studs that are either attached to the center console or a secondary part that connects to the center console interior. I had to glue my leather boot back to the supporting frame so I removed it, but it looks like this:

In my case, the studs on the inner center console all broke off, so it's left with nothing to attach to. The holes in the plastic part attached to the leather are where the studs should go. Not too difficult overall to have some metal studs glued to a thin sheet metal plate, then that plate glued onto the inside of the center console, but to do it you'll probably have to remove the whole thing to work on the inside, which I've been reluctant to do so far.

I guess it's really not that difficult to do though. Remove both front seats, and it should just be a handful of screws.

Yup! That's what I thought it would look like from the view from above.

Seat removal isn't that difficult and I;ve been planning to remove them for some time for a deep interior cleaning.

Probably going to dive into this in the coming weeks.

Dug a little deeper on the microfische, that is hit or miss if it's up or not.

Part 21 is the plastic piece with the dimples in it, but it's not listed in the parts catalogue.

I looked a bit more this afternoon and it looks like there are a few screws holding this part on, which would make it a wear item that would eventually fail.

Hoping to have a few hours tomorrow or Friday and I'll see if I can coax it out and find a part number, if not I'll take the seat out during the Thanksgiving break and get to the bottom of it.

Also have to replace my driver's window switch, I guess hitting 85k is the magic number. :|
