2016 G 550 Key FOB Replacement
Need a new key for a 16 G 550. Dealer quoted $690. Want an OEM key that works. What's the best way to go about this?
When I had to do this with a different make, I ordered a FOB ($200) had a key made (20$) and the dealer programmed it for $150. Looking to go the same route. What's the best place for OEM parts / way to go about this?

My 2005 replacement had to come from the MB dealer. They send out the request with your VIN to a specific dealer that makes the copy and sends it to your local dealer. Takes about 1-2 weeks. My older style key was ~$300 (all plastic, but same shape as the new ones). As far as I know, there are no other options as only MB can approve and program them.
You have to bring your G and title into the dealer before they can order it. Super annoying process. Key cutting is separate and will add to the cost.
