G55 Grill Color Help
Hey All,
I recently purchased a black 2009 G55. Love the truck but really like the 08 style look with the "mono blocks" and the older style grill. Ive purchased the Himalaya Grey wheels and love them but am having an issue finding the correct grill.
From what I can tell there are two different grill part numbers for G500/55s. There is 463-888-00-15 and 463-888-06-15. I called Mercedes classic and after some digging we found that the "00-15" fits G55s but comes shipped in primer with instructions to paint the grill according to body color. The "06-15" specifically says that it is for 06-08 G500/55 and doesn't mention primer and instead lists it as RnR (remove and replace), this grill is also $100 or so more expensive. This makes me think that this grill is already painted.
This would make sense as it seems that most later G55's, no matter the body color" had a grey(not sure the exact color) grill insert. with no chrome, no matter the body color of the car. I assume this was to differentiate the 55's from the 500's which had body color grills with chrome stripes on them. Though I do think that earlier 55's did have an option to have body color grills, but I am not positive.
Regardless, I want to get the correct grill. My body shop ordered one not knowing there was a difference and received and "00-15" in primer and they want to just paint it. However, I am unable to find anywhere where Mercedes lists what color grey the insert is. I think I may just have to order the "06-15" grill and see how it comes and then just return it if it is not painted grey.
Curious if anyone has any thoughts on this issue?
