OEM headunit failing?

Over the past week, my headunit has been behaving strangely. Whether I’m playing satellite radio, terrestrial radio or streaming over my Bluetooth adaptor, the music will stop, then a few seconds later a message will appear saying “device unavailable” or “service unavailable”. The problem seems to get worse over time - that is, the longer the unit has been active, the more frequent the problem becomes (cutting out every 30 seconds or so).

I would like to replace it with a modern HU if possible. I’d like to go with one of the units that mimics the asthetic of the OEM one (not some kenwood touch screen with an awful blank plate surrounding it). Any suggestions on what unit to go with? Also, how hard is it to replace the unit assuming I do the job myself?

I haven't used one of those OEM looking android units in the G, but have installed enough of them to know that it's pretty straight forward. Just need to make sure it has all the corrrect plugs for your year G.

All will depend on where you get your unit from though. All of them are from China and can be found for significantly less from AliExpress but your level of support will vary.
