G WONT START, NOT A SOUND...

Hey everyone, I'm hoping you can help me with a problem I had with my G.

Recently, we had some really heavy rain here in Virginia Beach, and while my car usually handles bad weather just fine, this time was different. I drove home during the downpour and went through a section of deep water—probably about 8-12 inches—and some water splashed up pretty high.

When I got home, everything seemed normal. But about four hours later, I went out to my car and it wouldn't start. The lights, vents, and locks all worked, but the engine wouldn't even try to crank. I tried jiggling the transmission lever and starting it again, but nothing.

The next morning, I tried again. The car started and ran for about a minute before it turned off. On my second attempt, it ran for a minute and a half, the engine revved up to 2,000 RPM, and then it turned off again. I used my OBD reader and got some codes, and a few dashboard lights came on.

When I opened the hood the next day, the hood liner was completely soaked and hanging down, and the car had a damp smell. I also felt behind the rugs under the dashboard, and they were damp too.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any ideas what might be going on?

First thing to do is dry out the engine and everything that got soaked. Open the hood and mount a big ventilation fan to blow air through the area until the moisture evaporates. Then check your battery and attach a charger if it's less than 12.6 volts.

You have water in your electrical system, likely in the ECU or key sensors. Let everything dry out completely. Do not try to start it again until it's dry or you risk shorting something. You'll need a professional diagnostic to check for damaged modules.
