mercedes g55 amg kompressor
g55amg retrofit paddles

hi guy's

my car is a g55amg kompressor from 2006 and I installed a steering wheel from a w205 amg with paddles. This is equipped with a converter to make the steering wheel buttons work on the original radio command.
i have a star xentry and when I read the steering column module I can see that the flippers work when I operate them so this is where i am
I have already looked a lot on the internet about how to activate the paddles in my gearbox ecu but I can't really find a clear answer.
Do I only need to change the SCN coding and if so, which numbers need to be changed?
I also read that you might need to do something with veedoc..............

thanks in advance

nick

Not much coding in that era that could not be done in star developer. I’m sure you’ve dug around the computer but somewhere is the option to choose paddles. I can not remember where. If you can’t figure out coding, I had an s55, and got a tcu module which also changed the paddle feature. Depending on coding, paddles may only work on a sport or manual mode (not sure what a g 55!has for those factory settings)

You need more than coding. Your 2006 722.6 transmission ECU isn't programmed for paddles. Seeing the signal in Xentry only confirms the wheel works.
Install a retrofit paddle translator box. Brands like Kozik make them. It converts the paddle signals into something your older gearbox ECU understands. Plug it into the wiring near your gear selector.
Forget VEDOC and complex SCN coding for this. The translator box is the standard, reliable fix for your model.

SCN coding alone won't do it. Your 722.6 gearbox doesn't natively support paddles. You need an aftermarket paddle converter module that intercepts the signal and mimics the gear lever. Brands like Paddleshifterz or Solowerks make them for this swap. The module is wired between your paddles and the transmission ECU. That's the only real way to make it work.

722.6 can support any paddles...it's a 5 min job directly with Star Diagnose.

Read the coding string and post here,
