Is it me only that I like the fact that it’s air tight? I’d crack the window open a bit or won’t use the air blower at the highest speed all the time if it’s too annoying...like the fact that it keeps all the pollution out / keeping in the bubble and likely apocalypse proof!

I am with you Fester, its sorta awesome it cant be that air tight. But then again it seems like it could be uncomfortable (I have a two toddlers that maybe this will bother them).

Then again - just shut the door on your seat belt to cause some draft :-) . issue solved! ha

Wow, just heard that. While it is certainly a testament to the build quality, this needs to be addressed. At this level, not acceptable.

I stand corrected. I never tried it like the video, with a small crack ours does the exact same. It seems to be “normal”. With that being said, it appears worse than it is unless you plan to drive with one window cracked open 1/8”. We love ours and haven’t considered it to be anything but great.

What if you drive with the sunroof tilted open? That should help, right?

Okay, I tried a little experiment today. With the A/C fan at 7 (aka wind tunnel mode), my window makes the same type of noise. Dropping the fan down to 6 cuts the whistle in half and any setting 5 and below the whistle doesn’t exist. Activating the recirculation mode and cranking the fan back up to 7 results in no noise. Switching off the recirc and tilting the sun roof also removes the whistle, but driving with the sunroof tilted while driving creates its own low frequency hum.

Anyway, like some others, I like the ‘19’s air tightness. Maybe it loses some of its quirky charm, but I’m confident my footwells will always be dry. The fit & finish is visibly tighter and this confirms the whole truck is built to a whole new level of precision.

Thought I would provide an update after taking it in regarding high cabin pressure:

High Cabin pressure with A/C on high = Known issue. Mercedes has released a protocol on how to help the problem, but does not have a real fix yet. They drill/cut some holes in the window area somewhere (100% unnoticeable/unvisable).

I can't say I have noticed an even slight improvement since they did that.

Dealer said another 19' G rolled in right after mine with the same complaint/problem.

MB needs to get this figured out.

I had mine also taken care of. I won’t say it’s fixed but it’s lower intensity now.

Mine does that too. I thought it was just that the new G is sealed up really well?

My wife’s 2019 G550 has the same indoor cabin pressure that you have all described. I believe it is just part of the design. My 2017 G63 doesn’t have the pressure issue as the new version, but air does come out of the rear exterior vents.

My 2020 built is scheduled for sept. Now im starting to get worried with all the querks & issues highlighted here. High cabin pressure, AC misbehaving and sound, windscreen crack, fuel gauge, engine issue. Given that my current 8year old M ride only had a failed alternator.

I’m at ~13kmi and my only issues are the aggressive lane keeping assistant and the cabin pressure which I documented my observations in post 31 in this thread. The first issue is solved be deactivating the LKA as part of my startup procedure. I also activate the seat cooling and massage at every startup, so it’s just another button to push. The second issue is not to open or close a window when the A/C is at 7. If it is at 7, I usually switch the A/C to manual and knock it done to 5, which is a quieter mode anyway.

After 10 months of ownership, I still smile when I hear the G’s engine startup. My M6 never sounded that sweet.

Has anyone gotten the high cabin pressure issue completely addressed? I had them drill some holes some where in the seal (I think) as a quick fix but I still have this issue- any fan speed above 3 has the whistle problem coming from the right rear back - whistling and high pressure is so annoying...I was told by the workshop that there’s a proper fix but it requires some areas to be disassembled, like taking the headliner off, and it could never be the same as factory. But folks here at fletcher jones in Cali Bay Area haven’t done any yet so I don’t want to be a guinea pig..

Wondering if anybody has gotten the rework done to eliminate it completely ?

just brought my 19 g63 in for this issue as well.

door literally pops open when the fan is above 5.

they're diagnosing it this weekend. will update on what they say.

Haven't had anyone look at this on my '19 but this past week i had a rear passenger open the rear window on the highway and I about ran off the road. The cabin pressure imbalance is basically intolerable to the point that i wouldn't let anyone in the rear seats with the rear windows locked. I plan to ask the dealer when I drop the G off for the first service. any input on the dealer fix greatly appreciated.

Here is something I have noticed on my 2019 G63 that may have to do with the excessive pressure in the cabin. There are four round vents in the front cabin, two in the center above the console and one on each side of the dash. If I direct the air to just the windshield or the windshield and floor only air still blows strongly out of the right vent on the center console.
No matter where I direct the air it always comes out of the center console's right vent. Before I take it in could someone try directing their air just on the windshield (defroster) and let me know if air also blows out of the center console's right vent.

My 2020 G63 also has a creaking/squeaky noise - not from the air vents, but from the front driver's window and seal. I also tested the AC today in the garage and within 30 seconds of cranking up the A/C to 7, my ears kept popping. When I opened the driver's door, it almost flung open into my garage wall - it "popped" open a few inches more than usual when I open the driver's door. Incredibly uncomfortable feeling, even when the A/C is on in Park! Checked online and there is a service bulletin to solve it. See attached Mercedes service bulletin with the dealer's solution. Don't know if it has to do with my window creaking, so I may have them just fix that first.

thanks- super helpful! Replacing the D pillar vents is new thing. They’ve already done other items and it hasn’t reduced the whistle, which has been annoying...
