Adaptive Suspension

Just took delivery of my 21’ G550, I opted for the adaptive suspension.

I noticed prior to delivery there is no switch to adjust the dampening setting on the center console...the only thing I could find, was that I could choose “sport” or “comfort” when I programmed my “individual mode.”

Is that the only thing it is good for?

I was hoping to be able to quickly click between sport and comfort dependent on the road surface, like I do on my X5M. Smooth good roads, I leave it in sport, hit some bumpy stuff and flip over to comfort....but without a switch it really isn’t to convenient.

I guess I also pictured being able to, for example, be in sport dynamic drive mode and click on “comfort” suspension....but it looks like that isn’t possible...

Am I missing something?

I have read the manual, possible the poorest manual I have read.

The sport/comfort etc modes are on every G Class, even ones without the adaptive suspension option.

I don't think there's a switch or anything for the adaptive suspension--it's "always on" so to speak. I've driven G550s with and without back to back and it's a noticeable difference to me on the ride and handling.

there is no separate button to control just the suspension. however you can set your personalized setting in the individual mode so you can toggle from say sport with the whole car in sport mode (including suspension) and maybe individual where you can have the engine and steering in sport and the suspension in comfort... there hundreds of ways you can use the personalized setting to get your desired effect.

i am glad i got the adaptive suspension. the G550 is pretty soft in comfort and leans quite a bit in the corners. the adaptive dampers really helps control the massive tank of a car around corners.

I am glad I got the adaptive suspension on my 2020 G550. As stated there is no "switch" but you can switch settings. I have my suspension set to Sport as well as Steering and it rides very nicely albeit the roads I travel on here in FL are pretty good.

Thanks for all the replies, bottom line, if it makes the ride smoother, I can handle that there is not a switch. (But there is a nice blank switch area on the center console they could have filled with a suspension switch.)
