All-Season Tires for 22" Rims on 2021 G63

Hello all,

I am a new subscriber here. Recently, I purchased a 2021 G63 with 22-inch rims. However, due to where I reside and travel, I need all-season tires. Any ideas what my options are for all-season tires for my car? The current wheel configuration is 295/40-22. Thanks!

The tires on your truck are probably "all season" classified (if they're the OE Pirellis), with "M+S" in small letters somewhere on the sidewall. But what you're asking is what's a good tire for year-round use in rain, snow and dry pavement? Go with an "all terrain" (A/T) class tire with the "3-peak snowflake" (3PSF) rating. I have Yokohama Geolandar G015s on my G550 and they work well for me year-round in Colorado, but there are many other good A/T tires -- Falken Wildpeaks and Nitto Grapplers seem popular with other G-owners on this forum.

The 22" OEM Pirelli's are summer only. Smaller sizes of the asymmetrico are all-season so it can be confusing. I've done all the research and there are no all-season tires in the OEM tire sizes for the 21 or 22" rims.

Your options are either to get 20" rims and get all-seasons in that size or change the 22" tires to all-terrain tires which many of us have done if you search the forum, but you'll have to get a different size than OEM but some work without any modifications or rubbing.

Thanks for the info. I did check my tires and they're Pirelli. Now, can I use a different size (e.g., 285/40-22 or 275/40-22) Pirelli Asymmetrico? Also, what tires/sizes would you recommend for 22" rim, if I were to go with all-terrain?

I just had my winter Perelli tires installed yesterday 285/40/22.
Perelli scorpion winter tires, don’t install all season tires.

I wish I had the space to store two sets of tires (summer & winter sets). But I don't; hence the need to having all-season or all-terrain. From other posts here, it appears that MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S is a good option. The question i have is, would the tire size be 305/40-22 or 285/45-22?

I would think the 285/45/22 would work, I don’t think the 305/40/22 would work, ask your dealership. My dealership is storing my tires in their parts department. I have room for them, but don’t want to put them in my G. I called Michelin last year and they didn’t have anything. Today is my one year anniversary with my 21 G63. I ran those tires last winter and had no problems getting around. I had those Michelin tires on my Lexus GX that I traded for my G 63.

285 works. 305 will work if you do some slight modifications to the fender trim which mopars has done in this forum.

i would go with 285/45-22 Michelin Defender unless you know of a better all terrain tire.

What’s the speed rating? Michelin told me last year, they didn’t have anything for the G 63 22 inch wheels.

I have not talked to Tire Rack yet. Only talked to Discount Tire. I’m waiting for a call back from my local MB dealer.

Ok, my dealership purchased my tires from Dealer Tire. I was forced to buy them from my dealership in order to have them store my tires.

Google "tire storage service" - there are companies that store your tires, and provide drop off / pickup wherever you tell them. Typically costs $20/month but sets you free of dealer restrictions. Or consider a wall rack (less than $200) for your garage (my choice), but heavy lifting is required.

I bought one of those dollys and stacked the summer tires and rims (after cleaning them) with a storage cover in the garage. Put pieces of cardboard between each tire.

Apparently with tires mounted on rims it’s okay to stack vertically but tires alone should be stored upright.

I don’t really need to run winters but got all terrains so I’m not driving on summers in 20-30 degree weather on a regular basis.
