E isn’t the same as G. Most of their vehicles are V6’s whereas the G is V8 only here.

Mercedes recognizes that G buyers want a V8. I imagine they will run them as long as they can, at least in North America. Not worried short term but I would say get one in the next couple of years if a non hybrid V8 is important to you.

The original debate was about the entire V8 line up and not just G vs. E. People were up in arms when I suggested that there would be an end to the V8s sooner rather than later.

I hope this isn’t the case but it sure is starting to look like the next G-class will be the last one on a V8 platform and perhaps in limited numbers like the E. I guess only time will tell.

Might want to take second and get off that high horse of yours. The new SL which literally just got released has a V8 in multiple configurations. The G the same. Not to mention the new S class, GLS and anything Maybach.
Sure they will phase it out, you're not a fortune teller for predicting that because its inevitable at this point. But for the time being Mercedes is still offering several models with the V8.

Sounds like you are on a high horse because there is no confirmed MY23 G-class at all. What are you even talking about?

Jeez take a chill pill 💊

they are checking out the purosangue ..just kidding ..
when the flagship (S63) is gone, isn't it a matter of time..
the current V8 is a great engine just like the 6.2 HEMI so MB will find some specialty cars to put it in..
they've also showcased an electric G so the message is loud and clear ...
the 2022 G63 and the 2020 S63 (the final hurrah) are something to hold on to ...

The answer is maybe! Mercedes is about making profit while providing cutting edge performance in power and handling and safety and efficiency and reliability. If those goals can be achieved or even exceeded without a V8 then who cares about the number of cylinders unless you are buying the car for it's potential value as an antique some day! Not even formula 1 drivers care! Keep your eyes on the performance!
