Dec 2023 Stop Drive Recall for G 63 4x4²

I have a 2022 4x4 Squared. I am not willing to wait again, so I had my lawyer send a nasty letter to the president of Mercedes-Benz Canada. Within a few hours of receiving the letter, a full buy back was initiated. Just waiting for it to solidify but I am getting the full purchase price back. To anyone else facing this issue, DO NOT GIVE YOUR VEHICLE BACK until a buy back plan is in place. The second you give it back and submit to the recall, they are NOT ALLOWED to give it back to you until it's fixed.
Anyone else go the legal route?

As you know, now the 2023 and 2022 models have been recalled again
I’m planning on looking into a buyback. Are you familiar with this. Any advice? Is it considered part of lemon law? Was going to contact an attorney this week, but wanted to be a little better versed before I did.
I spent another 15k between PPF and adding side steps

From what I understand, Mercedes is reaching out to each owner individually and will offer either another regular G63 or full buyback. I got my 4x4 in October and barely put any miles on it before getting the stop drive notice. I’m leaning towards going the full buyback route but might change my mind if I’m able to get moved to the front to order a new updated G63.

Just finished the buyback process. Was able to get back everything that I paid without any questions including the $200k adm and $70k worth of aftermarket stuff. Took about 8 weeks total. MBUSA was great to deal with in my case.

Contacted by MB. They are starting to obtain the replacement rear axles. I am going to hold on to the vehicle and replace the axle. The recall has reduced the quantity of the vehicles on the market and once a valid fix is completed the value may go up accordingly.

Quantity not reduced, just the price was reduced as they are being resold as lemon buybacks by lemon car dealers.

I was debating a buyback, but it is the best and most capable G available. The portal axle system on this production vehicle is superlative. I think calling it a lemon is a bit hyperbolic, but to each their own. If a reasonable replacement for the rear axle housing comes to fruition then it will maintain a spot in my garage.

Based on most states lemon laws it technically is a lemon so calling it one is just stating a fact. Whether or not an owner pursues to have it bought back or repaired under the lemon law or via good faith from MB is of course a personal choice.

Stref,
Good Afternoon, I'd like to ask you a question regarding that replacement part if you don't mind. I have our owners 4x4 that she dropped off & i'm trying to get her some answers on the replacement parts.
I see no current stock on this part number A463-350-15-02
Is this the number you're replacing it with?
Her recall is also not open just yet. Pending until 11/1/2024

I am not sure the exact part number. My MB service leader checked the stock periodically and contacted me once it was available to set up the service. From what I understand they are built and come in small waves of inventory. He did mention that there was only one left in stock when he checked so he ordered it expeditiously. Once it was ordered it was crate shipped and available in a matter of a couple of days.

Thanks. It’s a great truck. I understand the consternation with the axle and people selling it back to MB, but I had to hold out for the repair. Even though it is a limited market, it is great to see MB taking chances with engineering to push the envelope. .
