Be aware -G63 22 inch wheels

Just wanted to pass along the cost of replacing the 60mm center plastic cap in the middle of the screw-off center cap on the 22-inch forged G63 wheels. Either my 60mm plastic center cap came off while driving or was taken off. Mercedes does not sell the plastic cap that snaps into the screw-off center cap for the 22 inch wheels. The replacement cost for the entire screw-off component retails for over $1,000. The 72mm Mercedes center snap-in plastic cap is too large. The price for that cap which is identical except for its larger size is $38. I found a donor screw-on cap from a GT63 on ebay for $125 and hopefully the plastic cap in the middle is the same but do not know for sure yet. I checked all of my caps and one of my other plastic caps was loose and was easily removable using just two fingers.

Good info. Alloy Wheels Direct sells a set of 4 for $793. Part number is A00040043009283.

Hmm, maybe I will stick with the 21's in the future after all--one less thing to worry about!

That is strange...it must not have been on correctly, or someone stole it.

To those that are not aware ensure the caps are flush with the wheel and with no gap. There is a sweet spot that allows them to drop into the flush position - 3 of mine are easy to seat but 1 is a *****!

The grooves on the inside of the center cap line up with the bolt holes. It is made to hold the metal cap in place while screwing "down" the middle plastic piece.

This is why I always buy the Wheel and tire protection on my vehicles, especially on these expensive ones. My cousin who is a certified MB tech out of MB of Toronto always tells me it's the only thing I'd ever buy from the dealership. He's like I can't tell you how many cars come in with tire/wheel damage.

I know people don't like buy add-ons, but I can't tell you how much money I've saved from just spending 1-2k on the protection up front.

When you live in a state with snow, and the salt damages the roads and creates some gnarly pot holes and you hit one, you're thankful you bought that protection.

Also, it covers rim rash which is really nice too.
