Talking The new G-Class 2022 is imminent!

The new G-Class 2022 is imminent! I feel it now, as I can see mercedes has been pushing their current G63 on many instagram pages of their official handles and through influencers too on social media.
This only happens, just when a end of life is nearing the current generation.
I feel the 2022 model is already done by them and waiting for leaks for sept 2021 production slot.

What are you expecting from 2022 model ?
I expect touch screen, new mbux, wireless carplay, and HUD maybe.

Yes, we are still in generation 2 (2018-current). Generation 1 lasted almost 30 years so I'd say we have a few more years until the new generation

I'd expect a minor refresh for 2022. Some additional options with paint and interior and maybe MBUX, but I don't think we will see that until 2023 or 2024.

Hoping for more wheel options, like monoblocks.

Wrong, "end of life is nearing current generation" is an absurd statement. No Mercedes generation has ever had a life span of 3 or 4 years. 7 is about typical, perhaps a refresh at best.

Unlike BMW, Merc looks after its existing clients by not doing LCI/competition upgrades every 6 months

A minor refresh within the next 2 years I can see.

A complete GEN redesign? LOL I doubt that. I don't think they'll wait almost 30 years for a Gen 3, but not 4-5 years. I would think closer to 7-10 year for a complete redesign, which is fine to me.

Right. 7-10 is typical Mercedes. It will be interesting to see if they follow that same model for the G since it's been such an outlier for decades.

2024 G63
I wouldn’t change it for a long time if I were them. Maybe interior changes here or there.

Land Rover messed with the Range Rover classic and now changes every 8 years or so. Makes the older models look so outdated. Hope the same thing doesn’t happen to the G.

Saw a 2010ish W463 in the parking lot this past weekend and people would be hard pressed to tell the differences. Think they need to keep that.

Safe bet MBUX is coming for '22. That may be the only change and it will not be very difficult to implement all the more reason the '22's will have it. The hardware is already there from the E, GLE, GLS.

Why would they make any serious modifications to a vehicle that’s only been out for three years, and has a waiting list to purchase out the door!! Some places it’s over 18 months, they’re not gonna make any changes until they see the need to to boost sales.

The G wagen is an Outlier in the car world.

It's one of those vehicles where it's minor refreshes here and there, but nothing serious for a long time. It's just an Iconic vehicle and there is no need to do a complete redesign every 5 years like most vehicles get.

And honestly being selfish I rather them not redesign them all the time and wait a 8-10 years.

i would bet no changes for 22, not even MBUX. It will be 4 years or so before anything material changes...

My guess is no changes. They sell every one they can build so why mess with it?

Because the cost to implement MBUX is marginal and brings the platform in line with the rest of the lineup with regards to infotainment. Plus it helps justify another increase in MSRP.

I don't think that there will be any changes for 2022. The 2021 is EXACTLY 100 % the same as the 2019 with absolutely no differences other than the ability to add some very minor cosmetic changes to the exterior and no additional changes to the interior.

My experience with MBUX (on two of my vehicles) is that it's just not that great. It's cool, but not really useful at all. It misses about 80% of the verbal requests and the touch screen is "meh" at best.

The G63 is like driving a fridge-shaped bouncy castle. No hope at all to actually hit the target on a touch screen that you want. Much, much better to simply use the circular joystick dial that makes everything very efficient.

Many of the used 2019 G63's are selling for the exact same price as the brand new 2021 G63's because of limited availability.

The G63 is unlikely to be refreshed soon, because to do so would take away from the brand representation and iconic presence of the model. If anything, MB is going to be even more stingy with awarding build allocations to dealerships, who will concentrate on selling such vehicles more to the influential. This is a brilliant marketing strategy that has proven to withstand the test of time.
