Does anyone have any resources, preferably a YouTube video, for swapping out G63 headlamps? I ordered mine with the night package, but for some reason, my dealer couldn't get the night package with matte black paint. So, I had everything painted after it arrived. See before and after photos below. All but the headlights turned out great. I had the headlight globes tinted, but now the running lights have a yellow hue. I found a pair of new, factory "night package" housings on eBay, and I'm ready to dig in. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Here's the final product, after painting the push bar and headlamps black.
We used a translucent paint. The problem with this approach is with the factory night package, black paint is applied to the inside of the unit, and we painted the outside. We can remove the paint and get them looking like factory headlamps again, but I want the night package.
I wonder if the ordering issue had to do with inclusion of the roof being black in the night package(?). Matte black combined with Obsidian black might have produced a real ugly duck. Did you use a matte black powder coat on the night package components, or was the truck masked and the components spray painted?
Back to the head lights -- I'd strip off the tint and post them here and on ebay. Regarding changeout, every time I pop my bonnet, I'm discouraged from doing anything but fluids. I've never even glimpsed the serpentine belt. I'd have the dealer or a qualified body shop do the exchange.
