Certain model year problems?
Looking at pre-owned 2019-2021. Was there a certain year that should be avoided if possible, like 2019 as the first year, due to known problems? TIA.

Best source of info is on nhtsa.gov website. Go to "recalls" and enter "20xx mercedes benz g class". Scroll down to g class and read recalls and manufacturer communications (tsb's). Several problems discussed on this forum are covered by these recalls and tsb's.

Look for the Right Color/Interior/Wheels and Options that are "your best fit"
In my Experience - you just need to have clearer understanding on Standard Features and "Options" on a particular 19-20 - example - Digital Instrument Cluster was not necessarily "Standard" but "Optional" for at least 550's off the top of my head.
The rest of it boils down to Miles/Condition/Service-History/Warranty - and Price !

These cars are basically hand built and will all have their individual quirks, but to me overall build quility on my '21 seems very high. I would imagine '19-20 is the same. Mine's not been perfect, but really only minor stuff has gone wrong. Well, except the door latch issue where my rear door wouldn't close LOL
