Mercedes service plan worth it for these? I'm leaning toward no but want some input
I just figured I'd check in and ask here if people got the service plan or not and whether it was worth it. We were considering buying an extended warranty and were leaning toward yes but on the service plan we were leaning toward no since it caps out at 4 years/40k miles and my mother doesn't put a lot of miles on her cars. They quoted $2850 for that plan. I don't have a clue what minor and major services cost for these vehicles so figured I'd check here and also see what people were paying for a service plan if anyone even thought it penciled out.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Last year I called a local dealer for price quotes as I was considering the same thing you are, and they quoted me $350 for A service and $750 for B service.
I don't know if all A's and B's are created equal but if so, for four years that would be A/B/A/B which would be $2200 total.
I ended up not getting an extended warranty or service contract as I figured I would be trading up within a year or two.

Nevertheless, your mom probably doesn't own an oil drain pan, a creeper and a set of torx drivers, so the MB service plan buys her peace of mind and periodic reminders from the dealer, and relieves you of dealing with it.
1. To your Dealer's credit - they are quoting you Mercedes MSRP - and they ARE NOT over-charging/quote for Prepaid Service
2. To you (and your mother's credit) - you are looking to get that out-of-the-way - just on Convenience/Piece-Of-Mind if it was just "even" - peace of mind is a Plus
3. Maintenance quotes over-the-phone are Designed to "sound good" - however at B-Service there is "recommended" Service like brake-fluid flush & transmission Service that takes a B-Service to
$1500+
4. Pre-Paid Service covers BOTH required and recommended
5. The best thought - you want to be Covered going into the Next B.
The most effective costing when buying "new" - pay 1st/20K-1Yr out-of-pocket THEN purchase a 3yr/30K pack BEFORE 1st B/20K - at $2060 that will cover you B/20K-A/30K-B/40K
With time/mileage there is a "bump" when hitting/over 40K/B - 45K Sparkplug change where you want to have Prepaid Service definitely when you approach that
