When are the 4x4² expected to start being delivered in the US? Asked two dealers for an allocation yesterday and they will get back to me tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to secure one. In terms of suspension, I know that they will have portal axles. Is that in addition to what the current G63 has? So the 4x4² will still have the independent double wishbone suspension? Or will it go back to the previous gen suspension? Sorry for the dumb question but trying to figure out how the handling of the new truck will be affected.

My understanding is that the car retains the independent front suspension.
Spoke to my Salesman at Duluth GA Dealership yesterday. He says this Beast will be extremely Limited. Too bad retired in 2019...would definitely get on a List for this Holy Grail!
So maybe this is a hot take, but who else thinks this is a lot less butch than the G550 4x4? Maybe it’s got the 63 engine, but I think it’s shorter, narrower (at least the fender flares are smaller) and the raw new body style is less agro than the old one (curvier, etc ). Plus the roof rack pack seems a little ……….. a little trying too hard.
I spoke to someone last week that said as of now the US production # is in the 300s. I forget the exact # he said but I do remember him saying there’s 3?? dealerships and the production # is less then the amount of US dealerships. I’m the first on a list but i’m also low on the “totem pole” vs some of their other clients. Also said up to the GM how they pick depending on number of allocations they get.

LeTech did all of the design for the previous generation and this one as well. I saw the new one at LeTech a few weeks ago, and got to see the suspension as they were installing one. From what I could see there is a whole new subframe for the front, and brand new upper and lower control arms, along with entirely new steering knuckles. The rear looks to be slight longer lift springs, and then portal axles make up the additional lift. There are also 4x4 Squared specific shocks. I was told it handles as well as the regular G63 on the road although there will be some trade-offs in performance due to the larger tires which would not handle as well as low profile ones on the G63.

Correct. Just not the factory suspension. It's considerably more beefy.

I don't know for a fact, but I would bet they hang lower than the factory G63 running boards. These trucks are considerably taller than the normal G63, so a lower/more accessible running board would make sense. That's just my guess though.

That was my initial thought until I saw it in person. It actually looks considerably better than the previous Gen, but that's just my opinion. It's only 20cm wider overall than a regular G63, and the new fenders are going to look like a much better integration than the previous Gen. The previous Gen fenders were actually kind of an afterthought/temp fix that just ended up sticking and going into production. If it's shorter than the previos Gen it's not by much. I was asked not to share any pics on social media, but when my wife (5'9") was standing next to one she looks short. It's going to look plenty tall. From what I could see it can easily clear 38" tires, but they only had it on 37". 40" tires might be a bit too big, but I'll certainly consider trying it when I get one!

There are 391 US dealerships. I would imagine quite a few won't get any.

This is my initial impression as well. The new one looks "softer". But as it is based on the new/current G glass which has been out a couple of years, one can make their own judgement on that.
Mercedes run their prototypes where I live so I've actually had the chance of seeing one a little while back. (the new G63 4x4)
Received my allocation yesterday, my dealer is only receiving 1. They are due to arrive December 2022. Most dealers will get only 1 as there is a confirmed 300 coming to US and about 380 or so dealers. My guy(manager) told me MSRP is 350+ and I really hope he is incorrect. Not including the dealer markup either. I will still take it and hope its the last of its kind and prices go up. One last thing he told me was that I would have to sign a document not allowing me to sell the car for 1 year minimum. Now to build it so many colors to choose it will be a tough decision.

Congrats on the allocation. May I ask which dealer you got the allocation from?

mine came from MB of Massapequa in NY.
still haven’t signed papers because they still don’t have the pricing info/dealer fee markup- but they confirmed as long as I want it it’s mine.

Ahh....hopefully I can get one as well. already paid 95K over for my current 21 G63. So the shock of paying 100k over msrp will already have been experienced haha

are you sure you got an allocation rather than an indication that you will get it when they get it?
My dealer (which is one of the largest in the country) hasn’t gotten any official allocations yet. Maybe it’s a timing thing but I also want to make sure you’re not being misled.

As of today 96 cars have been allocated. These are Sept builds.

I was thankfully able to get my '21 G63 @ 40k over so not too bad. I expect to pay double that for this one. At minimum.

As per my phone call with the manager of the dealership, he told me they received 1 allocation and its mine as long as I wanted it, which I indicted I do. He told me 300 only (2023) coming end of year. Not sure msrp but mentioned 350k..hope that's not the case.
I have heard other rumors of more than 300 being made - which was 325 being made in '22 and 850 in '23. My good friend told me this and the source was the actual MB North America rep. Info directly off his laptop.
My friend is a big customer at this dealer - but he still cant get one due to the fact he's 2nd in line there behind the owner or ceo of PC Richard. Again this is what I was told, i'm sure there are varying reports and info out there.
