Brush Guard

Hi all - quick question.
is it ok to add a brush guard for a 2021 G63 that came without one from the factory?

Very easily, yes.
Its funny, people in the states pay to get them removed and here in Canada I have to pay to have it as an option.

read somewhere that the parking sensors or something is different when it comes without the brush guard; is it true? hope everything works fine when I add one :-)

That is false and wouldn't even make sense from a manufacturing perspective as they would have to produce 2 different types of G63 with differing sensor placements just to accommodate a brush guard.

Nope. The US G550 has no forward camera because of the brush guard, but the G 63's guard is much lower.

this project has been nothing short of a nightmare so far. I was able to get all the OEM parts finally but what baffles me is, this is how it looks under the trim piece (the bumper cover). does that plastic part with the two holes have to be cut? because it looks like it is attached to the G63 bumper itself.

I was exactly there I have to order parts multiple times because every time I forget to order something. European Gs have different beam in the front without the holes to the bumper so you have to order them as well. Also when everything is in place you will find out you forgot to order the part which hides the gap between the car and the bumper. Exactly as you stated headache

true!
I got to learn a ton of things during this process though!
they make two different type of bumpers for the G63 alone.
when you do not opt for the brush guard at the time of configuring your vehicle, the bumper comes with 2 holes on each side, in the area where the brush guard is mounted to the vehicle (don't know what purpose the holes serve, since that portion is again covered by a trim piece). for the ones that come with the brush guard from the factory those come with a vertical slot with a separate cover (to cover the gap between the bumper and the brush guard mounts), like you said a lot of pieces that you need to buy separately. the pain was mostly dealing with the parts and service centers who are not aware, in addition to the manuals that are also misleading. trying to search for parts with the VIN was also not getting us anywhere.

It should fit just fine, just like it had come from the factory with it.
