Paint Protection Other than Wrap?
The old guideline was to wait a few months after taking delivery of a new vehicle before applying any kind of protection (has this changed w new paint chemistry?)
A few years back when I was looking at options the best and greatest was just transitioning from ceramic coating to graphene. I actually talked to a detail shop and he was steering me towards graphene oxide (iirc). Unfortunately, the Wuhan shutdown put them out of business.
What are you folks seeing or using to protect your paint? I’m not a fan of wrap so just wanted to learn about options.
The two my detailer uses are opticoat which is a silicon based ceramic coating and undrdog which us PTFE (otherwise known as Teflon the non-stick stuff on cooking ware).
He told me each has their pluses and minuses (opticoat is harder and lasts longer, PTFE has better acid resistance and does better with water spots).
Most people seem to take delivery and drive straight to the detailer for coating. I think the cars sitting at port give it enough time for the pain to cure? Seems like when panels are repainted they say wait 30 days not sure for factory paint.
