g63 2021 oil level gauge

Hello, i have a 2021 g63 with around 46,000km i had my last oil change 44,000km's. My oil level gauge when i first did the oil change was max, it was good. 2000kms later it was near the middle and it stayed there for a while, yesterday it was a bit lower than that but its was within the min-max range. What I'm surprised about is that today its back at max... lol
Is that normal? or do i have an issue?

The issue that you have is that you are checking the oil level. It is designed to warn you if there is an issue. Only reason to check the level is after an oil change or after adding oil for a low oil warning.

The electronic oil level measuring system is a mystery to me. Rather than determining the level when the engine is cold and at a standstill (as with the antique dipstick method), sophisticated algorithms are used to measure the oil level while the vehicle is operating and in motion. Worse, rather than the oil level indication appearing all the time in a corner of the instrument display, you're expected to navigate down through several menus while driving, after being warned not to allow the display to distract you. As others in this thread have noted, the system will advise you if there's a oil level problem, but don't forget that replacement oil sensors can be purchased, and there are YouTube videos that show how oil level sensors can be replaced. So the system isn't foolproof. On the other hand, I've never experienced a dipstick failure. I change my oil and filter every 5K miles, and assume nothing bad is going to happen to the oil within this interval.

Had the opportunity to check the oil level reading today on the way to town. Dialed it up about 10 miles from home, and it indicated "measuring". Continued this indication for another 10 miles until I stopped for about 10 minutes. When I restarted the engine, same thing. Drove another couple miles, stopped again, and this time dialed the dash back to the odometer where I normally have it. Restarted about 10 minutes later, and dialed in the oil level again, and it finally showed the level at "MIN" and indicated oil level OK. I have 3500 miles since my last oil change when it indicated MAX. I know I haven't burned off a half a quart, or whatever the volume gap is between MIN and MAX. Maybe the outside temperature (95F today) was affecting it. It's a strange system indeed.
